Default Would you hit a chick???

All right... here's the deal. I was at the bar last weekend, and some chick sitting beside me hauls off and smacks me in the arm to get my attention before asking me a question. It was annoying, and she spilled my beer. I brushed her off. She then all-out smacks me again, right before asking me another question. (FYI, she hit hard enough that there were bruises on my arm the next day). She's drunk... ugly drunk... and being bitchy.

So, I smack her in the arm, and answer her question. I didn't hit her hard, but it was hard enough to rock her back a bit and for her to look shocked and confused. Her drunk friend beside her started laughing their ass off, and when the bitchy-chick started raising a stink because I hit her and hurt her arm, her friend laughed and said "you started it by hitting him... TWICE... what were you thinking was going to happen?"

Looking back on things, I realize that, in the right situation, I have no qualms about hitting chicks. I don't mean anything abusive or destructive (black eyes, missing teeth, etc), but in situations where they become physically aggressive, once they pass a certain tolerance level, I seem to classify them as "fair game" for some sort of minor physical response.

For example, another instance was when I was in a pub where my soccer team frequent after a game, I was talking to my teammates about the game we'd just played. A regular booty calls sitting next to me grabs my free hand (I had a beer in the other one, of course) and starts sucking on my index finger, all slutty like. I looked at the guys I was talking to and started to laugh, and she didn't like that. The next thing I know, she bites down on my finger... HARD. I seriously thought I was going to need stitches, or even lose my finger. With my other hand full of a giant beer mug and no place to put it down, without even thinking about it, I head butted her (only once) hard enough for her to let go of my finger. Much like last weekend's scenario, a friend of hers was sitting close enough to see what she was doing and thought it was an appropriate response. The woozy one, of course, was pissed and confused. Needless to say, the booty calls was over...

I think it all comes down to the unwritten rule that "it's never OK for a man to hit a woman". In both cases it seems that these women were confused and surprised that I retaliate/hit them, as they had "you aren't allowed to do that no matter what I do to you" looks on their faces.

Am I wrong for acting like I did?

FOCUS FOR THIS THREAD: At what point is it acceptible to hit a woman? Do women trust in the fact that it is generally unacceptable for men to hit women in any circumstances in order to get away with crap?

They deserved it if you ask me. If they want equality they have to take the rough with the smooth.

Violence is violence no matter how you dress it up! If a woman is physically hurting you I think you have a right to defend yourself, even as a man. I would have no qualms in decking a fella if he was hitting me!

equal rights and all. If I'm being hit by a woman I'm not going to just stand there and let her kick the crap out of me because of some outdated unwritten rule.
Granted I wouldn't hit a woman for the hell of it but the moment she resorts to violence is the moment it becomes acceptable.
My housemate though is rabidly opposed to any man hitting a woman no matter what the circumstances. twat.

Yeah, hitting a girl once she has hit you is OK, but only if it's a hard hit. Plus, a mans retaliation is only to make the girl understand that her punch was hard, it hurt, you warned her, she carried on and so she feels the consequences.

I don't think you should hit a girl in the face. Nor should you kick the shit out of her once she's stopped. A dead arm will suffice.

I count myself lucky, I obviously hang out with classier birds than you do Joe....though you wouldn't know it

Yeah, I think you're in the clear. She hits you, you should be able to hit back with the same force.

Would I be considered a bloody wimp if I just walk away? Because that's what I'd probably do I think. I'm pretty against hitting a woman - unless it's defending myself from real harm.

In reality i'd probably not hit them back either, at worst i'd probably push them away, if they hit me hard enough i'd push them over. But each to their own. If you hit someone, no matter who you are, you shouldn't be suprised if you get hit back.
