Jess, let me put my arm around you in a purely platonic and fatherly manner, and escort you through the Shiola.com premises.
You are the first confirmed artist to enter these 4 walls. Please give us your professional opinion on this topic - http://www.shiola.co.uk/forum/ftopic1150.html
Your site is good, plus your drawings are really good too. You paint as well?
Welcome and make yourself at home.

Thank you shiola very much
I am honored to be the first "confirmied" artist on the site so far. Although, I personally don't think of myself that way. that's only the self doubt and underconfidence in my self esteem talking. So thanks fr the pepe in my step, it really does mean alot when I get compliemts so keep em coming! Im kidding of course....no im not...
ok so anyway about the link...
I was reading the article earlier and honestly I think the artwork from an abstract point of view is really good. I think the whole "my kid did this isn't great give me 4,000 for it" is a gimic. He's her "assistant".. my ass he is. It's all for publicity and money. I just think it's a shame if he has this talent and is giving his how old? 4 year old daughter all the credit. so when i look at the paintings they dont represent what art is. Art in its purest form is honest and exposed and just out there. If what I think is correct that he is actually the artist, then this is not the truest form of art. Therefore, it's ugly and dishonest and no one needs to pay for that.
How was that? good?

Yeah. I think my problem with this is not the artist (whoever it is) but the fact that people are willing to pay $10,000 for this and art critics herald the 4 year old girl a genius like Mozart. That is what is complete bollocks.
This girl has already got a million times more exposure than 99.9% of 'real' artists out there that actually do great work and have a clue about what art is. Just because some eccentric twat is willing to pay for this and some stupid journalist is willing to print the story, does not mean this is good art....or even art.
Your drawings take time and skill, yet this girl spills a paint pot on some canvas and is already front page news. You can understand why Van Gogh cut his ear off, so he didn't have to hear this kind of shit.

I get how abstract can be cool to some people who would buy this art so in that way I can see why people would be drawn to it. But for me personally I just don't get it.I tried doing it and couldn't get the satisfaction of making something real. I am more impressed by art that takes time and skill like you said. (thanks for that by the way..made me blush a little but thats besides the point  )
so funny about van gogh. even though I like his work he was a nutjob in the worst way.

Always had a soft spot for artists....not sure why considering I used to do all that art stuff and hated it. Something about learning all the mathematical applications to use in art just didn't agree with me. Lines this, Circles that.....
....Okay okay, all i did was use an etch-a-sketch..so sue me
I still like artists...
