i'm a little late on these but i sar them last night and they were pretty great. i really can't stand michael moore but he made a fun to watch movie there. excited about his new one. i guess it one "best picture" at cannes

i thought kill bill was super cool too. except the animation part kind of got boring.overall, i want to see the second part real bad now but i'll wait until it's in the 50 cent theatre. the passion is playing there this eve and i'll see that later. hope it's good

I liked 'Bowling for Columbine'. It was strange watching it as most of it happens around here - that K-Mart that sells bullets, I've done some food shopping in there.

Bullet sandwiches are lovely. They really 'hit' the spot....boom, boom!!!

Coming from the UK where gun control is about the tightest in the world, this film really highlighted the reason why you need tight control - rather than giving them away with bank accounts. What was also interesting was the parts about the US media 'promoting' fear in it's audience. Coming over here I really did notice the difference in news coverage. The news mainly does focus on the really bad stuff - which IS news, but so is economic, political and social news events.

Check out the BBC news and get another perspective - http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsa/n5ctrl/tvseq/news_ost.ram - The BBC is independent, NOT owned by any company, business or governament - funded by the UK population, I think this makes a massive difference that I never noticed until I came over here (btw, BBCAmerica is shit in comparison). Keep an eye out for the coverage on Israel and Palestine - very different.

I'm looking forward to seeing his next film too, should be an eye-opener.

Here's a UK 'political' comedian that does really good stuff - http://www.mtcp.co.uk - he's also really funny, which is the main thing.

And just so Shiola.com can keep it's BBC-like independence and respect, here's an 'anti Michael Moore' site - http://www.bowlingfortruth.com

Prof. - Yeah, both of those films you mentioned were really good... I think you'll like Vol. 2 if you loved 1, but keep in mind when you watch it that they were intended as one film rather than two, it keeps it a little more fresh. Great movies though. I liked the passion of the christ, actually.

Michael Moore... Hmm, I own Bowling for Columbine on DVD, I really like it. The first Michael Moore film I saw was Downsize This!, which also mainly takes place around Detroit and most of Michigan. Really good look into the brain of corporate america.

ah..michael moore. yes, i was just talking about him at work today. i liked most of bowling for columbine. i tried to see it when it came to the art theater here, but it was sold out when we got there. i ended up not seeing until it came out on dvd. that was after i saw that year's oscars, when i ended up screaming at the television for a good 10 minutes. damn, that guy pissed me off.

anyway, the movie.. my only real problem with it was his interview with james nichols, the brother of terry nichols, who is currently in the state for his state trial for the okc bombing. see, i thought the movie was supposed to be a basically objective view at issue of gun violence in america. it wasn't. moore clearly had an opinion and freely expressed it. sometimes he was mocking, other times he was challenging. he clearly made a point that gun violence among kids in schools was bad. my problem was that...he seemed to let james nichols slide. what? is it...okay...if the violence is directed toward the government instead?

i guess part of it is that i live here and another part is that i work for the governement and another part is that i was supposed to be at that same building 4 days later...but i was seriously pissed off when i watched that part of the movie.

so, at work today, someone asked me (a liberal democrat) my opinion of michael moore. i think he is an arrogant, self-obsessed slimeball...but i will probably still see his new movie anyway.

i liked maybe the first 20 minutes of the passion. then it became a dull, self-indulgent, hollywood exploitation scheme designed to appeal to an audience who doesn't give a shit about christianity or even just okay storytelling. what a gross movie

i really don't like michael moore at all and i thought some of 'bowling' was sappy on account of him. i don't believe in strict gun control either. and the whole canada thing was a joke. but it was really entertaining and i'd see it again and i think it deserved an award just for being a really entertaining movie

I've installed a 'God-Watch' montioring system. If you blasphem against the Holy benevolence of the almighty Mel Gibson, then it automatically logs you off so you can think about what you have done and go to bed without any dinner.

'What Women Want' is a great movie.

Blessed be Saint Gibson.

Amen.

kill bill - a very good movie. i loved the story, and as always with tarantino, the style. it was a little too violent for my taste. i just fast forwaded the ultra violent parts. i know, i know, the violence was part of the point right?

bowling for columbine - i liked the point of the movie. moore's films always seem to have a good point, but i can't help noticing the fact that he only reports part of the story and makes things look worse than they are ... i live in canada, and believe it or not! i lock my doors. crazy isn't it? i am interested in the new movie about bush too. i will watch it with the same "take it with a grain of salt" attitude though. (we need people in this world to challenge the systems in place that are not good enough.)

You know, you're right. That's the only thing I don't like about Michael Moore... he's just not unbiased. I know that's pretty much impossible, but still. if your point is to get the real information out, you can't twist it either way.

Also something I didn't like about bowling for columbine was at the end when he pestered charlton heston... I mean, yeah the guy was wrong. But you don't go to a man's house and basically tell him he's a bastard.
