I, Robot by Isaac Asimov.
Just finished reading this and it was great. One of the best books I've read. It's about 8 (or is it 9) short stories that are all interlinked via a journalist interviewing a Robot expert. The stories are in chronological order so you can see how robots advance and human's with them.
Fundamental are the 3 laws, inorder of importance they are basically - Robots can't kill, robots have to listen to humans, and robots should try and protect themselves from harm.
The stories all revolve around these three laws and how the robots interpret these laws through different dilemmas. If you're not a Sci-fi fan then still read this as it's as much about human nature as it is about robots in space.
The book is easy to read. It's technical enough so you can believe that these robots can exist, without going into specifics which would bore and confuse you. The ending is also great. My biggest complaints with books is that they seem to slide down to the end and just get the story finished without leaving you gobsmacked, or finishing on anything thoughtful - this one does though.
I loved this book and I think you will too.
