This was really good. After 'Island' sucked the life out of me I was looking forward to reading some out-of-this-world short stories. This book is a bunch of short stories about colonising Mars. The stories are related to each other and run in order, but you can also read them seperately. The stories are more about the actual people that colonise Mars, the troubles they face, the troubles back on Earth and there are Martians too - it's not about ray guns, space ships, monsters and all that crap.

In summation - we should colonise Mars. Send all the nutters and criminals up there. People should have to take a test to remain on this planet otherwise they get exported as human cargo to Mars.

Shiola.com forum people can write the test paper.

item one on the test is that you have to be able to vocally reproduce the guitar solo at the beginning of "money for nothing" by dire straits. if you can't, you're not even allowed to go to item 2. it's just straight to the moon
