View Full Version : Do You Want a Chatroom?

I've found some chatroom software that looks quite good, cheap plus it works with the forum database so you can all use your forum usernames and only forum members can chat on it. Here it is - http://www.tufat.com/script2.htm - plus there's some demo's too.

I can't say I'd use it much but if others would like it, then I'll add it on.

cryotek - I know nothing about IRC, it won't be part of the forum either so forum members can use their sign in names. Plus bandwidth is so cheap that doesn't worry me. Thanks for your suggestions though.

I think it would be a great idea, though when there would be enough people on at the same time I dont know.

It would be nice to talk in real time for a change.

Unfortunately the fingerless guy who travelled to Canada won't be joining us.

It would be interesting to talk in real time, do you think you'lll change your perception of anyone?

Well irc is easy. though it won't be apart of the forum, people CAN use their signin names or create others.. so long as it doesn't have spaces o=

I use SigmaChat by raidersoft... It blends GREAT with vbulletin and runs off the same database.

I'm not sure, the chatroom might stop people using the forum as much. I'd give the chatroom a go if there was one though, but there aren't usually that many people online when I am, I think the most I've ever seen is about 5 members at one time. It might get more people to join though.

vonedaddy - hi, welcome to the forum. Your chatroom looks pretty nice. I've already just bought the other so I'll see how it goes.

Speaking of bribes, today at work I was offered the wrost bribe ever. One of my coworkers needed to call this guy and complete a referral by phone for this program he knew nothing about. Of course, he came to ask me to help him. The thing is, I offered to show him exactly how to do it. Instead, he begged me to just do it for him, and as a bribe he offered to LET ME SMELL HIS COFFEE! What the hell is that? And the saddest part is that his coffees are a complex work of art that he really loves (his local Starbuks actually has a register button titled "James" because he is a regular and his order is so complex....so this was an honest bribe. Terrible. I did finally get him to promise to bring me coffee tomorrow, but then he belittled my choice of drinks because it only takes one breath to place my order. It only takes one line on a receipt. Really, what the hell???

I just tried it and ...well, I have the slowest connection in the world apparently. Couldn't get it to come up. Will try again later when I have more patience.

Hi Shiola

I'm sorry but it doesn't work for me either. It took so long that I almost fell asleep. :sleepy1:

Well stone the crows!!!

It worked for me, mind you, I was the only bugger in there so I left again :(

Shiola

Yeah, I just tried it at work and it worked but it didn't ask me to login so I had no name and couldn't chat. Need to iron a few things out.

Bugger.

just did it again and it all seems fine for me, it logged me in OK, and i can chat. Though I'm talking to myself and I feel a complete tit, I thought I'd report back anyway ;)

I know it says flash chat but does that mean you need flash to access it? If it is then that will be why I can't get in. Fucking IT people have removed flash from all the computers and stopped us from downloading it. AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!

Shiola
23rd March 2005, 05:34 PM
Oooohhh!! OK, yeah, you need Flash. As in the software, you don't need to flash me your boobs to enter the chatroom....although, now I come to mention it, I'll put that in my 'To Do' list.

I know Dontpanic uses an Oklahoma ISP that runs at however fast the old man can run on the treadmill, so I'm not too concerned about that. DP - how is Chuck going nowadays? He must be 78 by now.

I'm always alone in there too Poppet. Sometimes I like to go in there and just think.

Too much thinking alone makes you go blind............oh hang on, that might be wanking.

Hammer

Try carrots, supposed to be good for your eyesight, it should counteract the wanking, unless your a 10 carrot a day man! Bugs Bunny must do it a lot!

BTW the chatroom works for me, but like the rest of you I was alone, rather stupidly I said hello, don't know why, seemed like a good idea at the time.

Chuck is fine, but he has this terrible gas. He farts all day long. I'd light a match, but I'm afraid my house would blow up!

Only 9 days to go until I move back into the city and back into the world of such delights as cable tv and high speed internet access. I think I just might beat the spring spiders and scorpions out of here!

Seleney
24th March 2005, 11:09 AM
Oh well that's another thing I'm missing out on. Man I need to get a comp for the house, the internet too of course (otherwise what would be the point)

I have been in the chat room 10 times and no one was there.
I hate chatting with myself.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that pops in to the chat room only to find it empty. So far I have only smiled at myself in the room, but not typed in anything yet. That would be silly.

I would use it, but am afraid some of our younger members would accuse me of cybering. :smt089

Well, Chou says I am perverted and I would never go into a chat room with kids anyways.
I wish Ben had 2 chat rooms. One for adults and 1 for kids.

Shiola

Well, the one chatroom is proving to be about as popular as an Islamic restaurant at midday during Ramadan...on Mars. So adding a second ain't going to help much. All forum members have to be 13 to join, so just avoid talking about anything particularly filthy in there - there's plenty of other chatrooms in Internetland where you can do that.

The chatroom was requested by a few people so users can have more of an immediate chatting environment than the forum. It wasn't to illicit hardcore midget sex.

Hammer
11th April 2005, 07:05 PM
Hardcore midget sex is so overrated, I believe that the current trend is towards stormtrooper probing.

involves men wearing tights & womens lingerie??

Better than being behind a sheep I guess.

I predict that in the future we will all wear shells suits (or was that 1990?)

Space suits to protect us from the sun's UV rays.
