How come with the England football team we sing 'God Save The Queen', but with the England team at The Commonwealth Games we sing 'Land Of Hope And Glory'?

Because footballers aren't very bright and it's best to keep the words simple?

Just cause you never get to hear the Welsh anthem at any medal ceremonies!!

Do English teams play any part in medal ceremonies outside the phoney sport of swimming?

Anyway, why would the Welsh want to tarnish their lovely anthem by having it played alongside God Save The Queen?

the answers quite simple if you think about it...

When England play in the World Cup, Euro's etc, we are there represting the rest of the home nations too cos Wales and Scotland are so utterly shit that they would never qualify..

At Cumonwealth (cheers ian) games they qualify by default...
