buy this crap ]      [ more Francis... ]

'Sam Francis' was the name given to the first chimpanzee born in captivity at Detroit Zoo. It was the name of the head of the monkey house's grandad who had died just 2 days before the birth of the new chimpanzee, so he named it after his grandad. 6 months later some monkey behavourists were experimenting with the monkey's, doing various activities, one of them was painting and this is what Sam Francis did.

The worrying thing about this picture is not that the above paragraph is absolute bullshit or that you probably believed it, but that this is No.4 in a series, which means there's at least 3 other paintings like this in existance, probably in art galleries infecting the public consciousness.

If all modern art was made by Chimps then it would be somewhat more acceptable than what it is right now.

This brilliant masterpiece enabled its creator to divest a very rich, but very empty-soulled, emotionally immature person of a lot of money. Good for Sam Francis.
Don't you understand, the art isn't the horrible blue blobs- it is the con of displaying and selling it!
You know, I was all for making a lot of money from art, but at least I produced real paintings with skill that made people think.
What a fool I was! All I had to do was smear cheap blue paint onto a canvas!

there's more to this than one might think. i mean really...how many times can you get a painting to have the APPEARANCE of being random and splattered, but still maintain a sense of balance and interesting shapes to the blob-things? there's a difference between random splats and artwork that can effectivley fool the average viewer into THINKING that the splats are random, which this peice does. in this sense, this is an excellent peice of art. it TRICKED YOU! HA! >__>

This looks something like that piece an elephant drew on that animal planet show. I'd probably be that messy if I had blue balls, too.

Blue balls?
Blue Bollocks :)
The colour isn't lively enough for my tastes.
Actually - it looks like something my little brother brought home from school the other day - y'know, the cup, paint and straw technique.
I wonder if I could sell it?
Probably not.
